faq
questions people actually ask. not questions we wish they'd ask.
do i need Docker?
no. we handle containers under the hood. you never see a Dockerfile.
do i need a config file?
no. the .pushto file is auto-generated. there's nothing to write or maintain.
what happens to my project on the free tier?
it stays up, always on, with no time limit. the free tier is hosting only; everything else (db, auth, domains, and the rest of the platform) lives on the paid plan.
can i use a custom domain?
yes, on the $13/mo plan. add it in your dashboard under project settings. we handle ssl automatically.
what if my project outgrows pushto?
congrats, genuinely. we'll show you a friendly message and suggest platforms built for your scale. no lock-in, no guilt.
is there an api?
the cli talks to our api. a public rest api is on the roadmap. for now, the dashboard and cli cover everything.
can i use pushto for client work?
sure, up to the 25-project cap. each project gets its own pushto.host web address, plus a custom domain if you want one. but we're built for side projects, not agencies. if you're managing 50+ client sites, you'll outgrow us fast.
do you support monorepos?
not yet. right now, one repo = one pushto project. monorepo support is on the roadmap.
what about databases besides postgresql?
pushto db is postgresql only. if you need Redis, MongoDB, or something else, you can bring your own and set the connection string as an env var. we just won't manage it for you.
is my data safe?
env vars are encrypted before they're stored (aes-256-gcm). your database runs isolated from everyone else's. we don't sell data, ever. your data is not our product. our product is helping you get your product off the ground.
can i cancel anytime?
yes. cancel from the dashboard. your projects stay deployed until the end of the billing period, then they move to free tier limits (1 project, hosting only). no cancellation fees.
